Explore All that the New 2017 Ford Escape Brings to the Crossover SUV Table

Ford has never shied away from being one to lead by example; continuous improvement, adaptation, and advancement are integral practices when it comes to how the American automaker approaches its lineup of new vehicles. That's why it comes as no surprise to our team here at Auffenberg Ford that the changes made to the newly updated 2017 Ford Escape are far more in depth than your typical mid-cycle refresh. Much more than an aesthetic update consisting of a minor nip and tuck here and there, the newest member of the Escape SUV family brings forth a number of substantial changes that bolster the appeal of this crossover model.

Right from the onset, the 2017 Escape puts a new, bold face forward. Virtually everything you see from the model's A-pillar forward has been redone: the front-end is all new, there's the addition of the aluminum hood, the striking hexagonal grille and a new lower grille treatment, and larger headlights with signature lighting. All in all, this crossover SUV takes on a more rugged stance, with broader shoulders that create a more domineering, do-anything road presence.

Open the doors of the 2017 model, and East St Louis, O'Fallon, and Fairview Heights area drivers will note that the interior of the new Escape places clear emphasis on improved functionality and utility. This particular crossover is the first to launch the automaker's new SYNC® technology, which enables drivers to pair their smartphone to the vehicle and use their handheld devices to remotely lock and unlock their doors, find their vehicle, start the car remotely, and even check critical status on things like fuel and oil levels.

As for power and performance, the 2017 Ford Escape is offered with a number of new powertrain options. The 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder of the outgoing model is swapped out for a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder which isn't only more powerful, but offers improved efficiency, as well. The available turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder now used in the all-new twin-scroll turbo design, yielding an impressive 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. The standard engine remains the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder, and it, like the other two available engines, comes paired with a six-speed automatic.
