The 2027 Ford Super Duty pickup splits into three towing tiers. Pairing the diesel with the High-Capacity Axle Upgrade Package lets a properly equipped Ford F-250 reach 22,000 lbs conventional as a SuperCab 4x4 8-ft or a Crew Cab 4x4 with either box, with 23,000 lbs on a gooseneck hitch in Regular Cab 4x2 form. The 2027 Ford F-250 overview covers trims.

Skip that package and F-250 conventional towing is capped at 18,200 lbs. A properly equipped single-rear-wheel Ford F-350 diesel reaches 25,000 lbs conventional as an 8-ft Crew Cab 4x4 and 27,600 lbs gooseneck as a Regular Cab 4x4, and the properly equipped diesel dually hits 38,000 lbs by gooseneck in Regular Cab 4x2 form. Receiver size depends on the truck: only a diesel Ford F-350 dually Crew Cab with the 4.10 axle steps up to a 3-inch receiver, and other Ford F-250 and F-350 pickups use 2.5 inches. Ford rates the F-250 receiver at 22,000 lbs with 2,200 lbs of tongue weight, the F-350 SRW at 25,000 and 2,500, and the dually at 28,000 and 2,800.

On every F-250 and F-350, the highest published rating belongs to a fifth-wheel or gooseneck hitch rather than the receiver. For loading, Ford advises 10% tongue weight for conventional trailers and 15% king pin weight for fifth-wheel and gooseneck, and caps trailer frontal area at 60 and 75 square feet respectively.

  • Diesel F-350 DRW Crew Cab with 4.10 axle: 3-inch receiver
  • Same ratings for weight-carrying and weight-distributing hitches
  • Tongue weight 10%, king pin weight 15%, per Ford
  • Frontal area limit: 60 sq ft conventional, 75 sq ft others
  • Tremor receiver: 18,200 lbs with 1,820-lb tongue weight
